How to Make Sweet and Sour Grapes

July 11, 2008 Amutha

Sweet and sour grapes are an ideal accompaniment to cheese platters for after dinner refreshments. They are also a great addition to the traditional ploughman’s lunches. Perfect served with a crusty bread.

Ingredients

  • 250g/8.8oz green grapes
  • 1/2 cup red wine vinegar
  • 6 tablespoons caster/fine sugar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme
  • sea salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

Steps

  1. Put all the ingredients in a small saucepan.
  2. Bring to the boil rapidly. Boil for four minutes, until the grapes burst and soften.
  3. Remove the pan from the heat.
  4. Pour the mixture into a small serving dish.
  5. Serve. Cut some crusty French or Italian bread slices and place with a cheese platter.

Tips

  • This recipe serves 4-6 people.
