July 11, 2008 Amutha

Frosted grapes are a great snack and an excellent accompaniment to cheese platters. They are easy to make and look best if kept as a bunch for serving.

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch/ 200g / 7oz green or red grapes, according to preference
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • 1/2 – 3/4 cup caster/fine sugar

Steps

  1. Wash and pat the bunch of grapes dry. Use kitchen paper to rest on and pat dry.
  2. Beat the egg white lightly with the water.
  3. Brush the grapes with this mixture. Use a pastry brush for this step.
  4. Sprinkle the coated bunch of grapes with the caster sugar/fine sugar.
  5. Set the bunch of grapes on a flat surface to dry.
  6. Transfer to a serving dish or cheese board for serving.
